Day 3: 6-days Late Shri Janardan Bhagat Memorial Lecture Series

On 30th January,2024, under the able guidance of the In-Charge Principal, Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh, the 3rd day of the lecture series was carried ahead to the next part of the learning.

The event was graced by the presence of the Guest Speaker of the day, Justice Pradeep Narahari Deshmukh Former Justice Bombay High Court. He was accompanied with Dr. S.T. Gadade Secretary of JBSP Sanstha and Mrs. Varsha Prashant Thakur member of JBSP Sanstha.

The session commenced with the National Anthem followed by the Maharashtra song. The session was taken further by Lamp Lightening ceremony with a flower tribute given to the esteemed founders late Shri Janardan Bhagat Saheb, Late Shri Changu Kana Thakur Saheb and late Matoshri Bhagubai Changu Thakur as a mark of respect and remembrance.

Hereafter, the Guest Dr. S.T. Gadade Secretary of JBSP Sanstha felicitation by In-Charge Principal, Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh Guest speaker for the day, Justice Pradeep Narahari Deshmukh were introduced and felicitated by Dr. S.T. Gadade Secretary of JBSP Sanstha followed by the felicitation of Mrs. Varsha Prashant Thakur by our Principal Ma’am.

The little address over the teachings and life of Late Shri Janardan Bhagat Saheb in the field of education which was very beautifully recited over by Miss Prerena Gaikwad, 4th year BLS LL.B.student.

The introduction of Chief guest was given by Asst. Professor Mrs. Anam Mehandikar, Thereafter, the guest speaker Justice Pradeep Deshmukh Sir took over and set the tone for the day on the topic “Evaluation of Evidence in Criminal Trial”. He made the students to learn about the very familiar provisions and procedure of Criminal Trial in the way that really was unfamiliar to the participants. He added his personal experiences and quotes case laws to help students know the procedure to be followed in trials. Sir also highlighted various sections of IPC, CRPC and Evidence Act for students to understand its actual functioning. He also apart from trial proceedings, covered some basic principles required to become a good advocate and a judge.

The lecture ended up with the question-and-answer session which was quite interactive and helped students know about the practical law as it is in the courts.

After the question answer session, the concluding address was given by the Principal, Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh Ma’am where she showed her gratitude to the Guest speaker of the day and added her remarks over the “Evaluation of Evidence in Criminal Trial. She highlighted upon the Speaker’s knowledge and experiences being a stepping stone for the prospective advocates.

The lecture moved further towards the end where the vote of thanks was delivered by Miss Supriya Mishra, 4th Year BLS LL.B. Student

The 3rd day lecture series was ended up with the national song being sung with all pride towards the national spirit.

Miss Samruddhi Tiwatne, a 5th year BLS LL.B. student, skilfully hosted the program, ensuring that the proceedings flowed smoothly throughout the session.

The success of the session was also attributed to the dedication and active participation of the faculty members, student volunteers and the audience.
