One-Day Research Methodology Workshop

On 23rd March 2024, Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, partnered with HVPS College of Law, Ghatkopar, to host a successful one-day research methodology workshop under the guidance of Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh principal of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law. Targeting LL.M. students, academicians, and research scholars from both institutions, the workshop attracted 52 participants eager to sharpen their legal research skills. The workshop provided a valuable platform for participants to learn from renowned resource persons. Three interactive sessions formed the core of the workshop, equipping attendees with the necessary skills for conducting effective legal research.

The workshop commenced with an inaugural session featuring dignitaries like Dr. Jyoti Deshmukh, retired Principal of  V. E. S. College of Law Dr. Madhura Kalamkar, Principal of HVPS Law College, and Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh Principal of Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law. The session commenced with the National Anthem followed by the Maharashtra song. The session was taken further by Lamp Lightening ceremony with a flower tribute given to the esteemed founders late Shri Janardan Bhagat Saheb, Late Shri Changu Kana Thakur Saheb and late Matoshri Bhagubai Changu Thakur as a mark of respect and remembrance. Following this, the Principal delivered welcome address, setting the stage for the knowledge-sharing sessions to come.

The workshop comprised three interactive sessions delivered by expert resource persons:

  • Session 1: Foundations of Research and Sampling Methods by resource person Dr. Jyoti Deshmukh provided in-depth knowledge on the fundamentals of research and various sampling techniques.
  • Session 2: Research Methodology and Research Techniques by resource person Mr. Amana Khare, Assistant Professor at Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, focused on conceptual analysis of research methodology, data collection methods, and dissertation writing techniques relevant to LL.M. students.
  • Session 3: Academic Legal Writing & Powers of Narrative and Storytelling in Law by resource person Mr. Adithya Variath emphasized the importance of effective legal writing and the use of stories and narratives to enhance the context and impact of legal arguments.

All three sessions followed by a 10 minuets research activity led by Asst. Prof. Aparajita Gupta, designed to engage participants in practical research tasks like formulating research titles, brainstorming research questions, and developing research outlines and content on the basis of given ‘Abstract’ to them.  All sessions ended up with the question-and-answer session which was quite effective and helped students.

The workshop concluded with a closing address by Dr. Madhura Kalamkar and a vote of thanks by coordinator of this workshop Asst. Prof. Dr. Kranti J. Bhovate. The workshop was declared a success, with all participants receiving certificates and expressing their appreciation for the valuable learning experience. The contribution of teaching and non-teaching staff in ensuring the workshop’s smooth operation was also acknowledged. Ankita Bhoir, Prathmesh Dethe, Sagar Hugle, Pradnya Gaikwad, Vedika Mhtre, and Siddhi Bhhingarkar served as volunteers for this workshop.
