Day 5: 6-days Late Shri Janardan Bhagat Memorial Lecture Series

On 1st Feb 2024, under the able guidance of the In-Charge Principal, Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh, the 5th day of the lecture series was carried ahead to the next part of the learning.

The event was graced by the presence of the Guest Speaker of the day, Hon’ble Dr. Anil Variath Sir, Former Registrar of Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai and Mrs. Archana Paresh Thakur Ma’am, Member of Board of Executives of Janardan Bhagat Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha, Panvel.

The session commenced with the National Anthem followed by the Maharashtra song. The session was taken further by Lamp Lightening ceremony with a flower tribute given to the esteemed founders late Shri Janardan Bhagat Saheb, Late Shri Changu Kana Thakur Saheb and late Matoshri Bhagubai Changu Thakur as a mark of respect and remembrance.

Hereafter, the Guest speaker for the day Hon’ble Dr. Anil Variath Sir were introduced and felicitated by the Principal Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh Ma’am followed by the felicitation of Archana Paresh Thakur Ma’am by our Principal Ma’am.

Then we had a little address over the teachings and life of Late Shri Janardan Bhagat Saheb in the field of education which was very beautifully recited over by Mrs. Anamika Joshi, 2nd Year B.L.S., LL.B. Student.

The welcome address was given by Librarian Ms. Janhavi Bhoir, who briefly introduced the audience about the 5th day lecture which was on the Indian Constitution and Criminal Jurisprudence. Thereafter, the guest speaker          Dr. Anil Variath Sir took over and set the tone for the day.

He made the students learn about the framework of the nation’s political, social, and economic systems that is mentioned in Indian Constitution. Within this constitutional context, criminal jurisprudence plays a crucial role in upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice. The Constitution guarantees fundamental rights, shaping the criminal justice system to protect individual liberties, ensure fair trials, and establish the presumption of innocence. This symbiotic relationship underscores their joint commitment to fostering a just and equitable society in India.

The lecture ended up with the question and answer session which was quite interactive and helped students know about the practical law as it is in the courts.

After the question answer session, the concluding address was given by the Principal, Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh Ma’am where she showed her gratitude to the Guest speaker of the day and added her remarks over the topic. She highlighted upon the Speaker’s knowledge and experiences being a stepping stone for the prospective advocates where Dr. Anil Variath Sir had also covered the aspects of becoming gentleman before becoming a renowned advocate or a judge.

The lecture moved further towards the end where the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms Rajdeepa Madhavi, 4th Year B.L.S., LL.B. Student.

The 2nd day lecture series was ended up with the national song being sung with all pride towards the national spirit.

Ms. Samrudhi Tiwatne, student convener of Janardan Bhagat Memorial Lecture Series skilfully hosted the program, ensuring that the proceedings flowed smoothly throughout the session.

The success of the session was also attributed to the dedication and active participation of the faculty members, student volunteers and the audience.
