Day 2: 6-days Late Shri Janardan Bhagat Memorial Lecture Series

On 29th Jan,2024, under the able guidance of the In-Charge Principal, Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh, the 2nd day of the lecture series was carried ahead to the next part of the learning.

The event was graced by the presence of the Guest Speaker of the day, Hon’ble Adv.Gajanan Chavan Sir, former Chairman of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa. He was accompanied with Adv. Vinayak Koli Sir, Advocate, Bombay High Court and CDC member, JBSP Sanstha.

The session commenced with the National Anthem followed by the Maharashtra song. The session was taken further by Lamp Lightening ceremony with a flower tribute given to the esteemed founders late Shri Janardan Bhagat Saheb, Late Shri Changu Kana Thakur Saheb and late Matoshri Bhagubai Changu Thakur as a mark of respect and remembrance.

Hereafter, the Guest speaker for the day Hon’ble Adv. Gajanan Chavan were introduced and felicitated by the Principal Mrs.Sanavi Deshmukh Ma’am followed by the felicitation of Adv.Vinayak Koli Sir by our Principal Ma’am.

Then we had a little address over the teachings and life of Late Shri Janardan Bhagat Saheb in the field of education which was very beautifully recited over by Miss Rajdeepa Madhavi, 4th year BLS LL.B.student.

The welcome address was given by Asst. Professor Mrs. Ravnish Bector, who briefly introduced the audience about the 2nd day lecture which was on the Bail Applications. Thereafter, the guest speaker Gajanan Sir took over and set the tone for the day. He made the students to learn about the very familiar provisions of Bail in the way that really was informative for the participants. He added his personal experiences and quotes of the former judges to help students know the applicability of bail as given under various provisions of CrPC u/s 436, 437, 438 and 439. He also apart from bail applications, covered some basic principles required to become a good advocate and a judge.

The lecture ended up with the question and answer session which was quite interactive and helped students know about the practical law as it is in the courts.

After the question answer session, the concluding address was given by the Principal, Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh Ma’am where she showed her gratitude to the Guest speaker of the day and added her remarks over the Bail Applications. She highlighted upon the Speaker’s knowledge and experiences being a stepping stone for the prospective advocates where Gajanan Sir had also covered the aspects of becoming gentleman before becoming a renowned advocate or a judge.

The lecture moved further towards the end where the vote of thanks was delivered by Miss Esha Rane, 3rd Year BLS LL.B. Student, extending her thanks to the Guest Speaker for the day, Adv. Gajanan Chavan Sir for his insightful session on bail applications making the students understand it in the way it is put into practice.

The 2nd day lecture series was ended up with the national song being sung with all pride towards the national spirit.

Miss Pratiksha Shinde, a 3rd-year BLS LL.B. student, skilfully hosted the program, ensuring that the proceedings flowed smoothly throughout the session.

The success of the session was also attributed to the dedication and active participation of the faculty members, student volunteers and the audience.
