Day 1: Inauguration of 6-days Late Shri Janardan Bhagat Memorial Lecture Series

Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel has organized a 6-days Late Shri Janardan Bhagat Memorial Lecture Series under the guidance of Mrs. Sanavi Deshmukh, In-charge Principal dated from 27th January 2024 to 2nd February 2024.

The event ran under the convenorship of Asst. Prof. Ms. Aparajita Gupta with student coordinators including Ms. Samruddhi Tiwatne and Ms. Rajdeepa Madhavi. It was wonderfully hosted by Ms. Prerna Gaikwad, Joint Secretary of the Student Council. The event went live on YouTube with the help of Mr. Sudeep Gholap and his team. The success of the event was amplified by the active involvement of the student volunteers who played a pivotal role in coordinating the ceremony and ensuring its smooth execution. The volunteers included Parth Nazare, Karuna Goswami, Supriya Mishra, Chaitrali Kane, Anamika Joshi, Sejal Sadaphule, Tejal Sonavale, and Bhagyashri Tupe.

The participants included students from B.L.S. LLB, LL.B., and LL.M. programs of our college. Additionally, participants from various other law colleges also attended the program on YouTube live.

The esteemed Guest of Honour for the inaugural ceremony was Shri. Y.T Deshmukh Sir, Vice-Chairman of Janardan Bhagat ShikshanPrasarak Sanstha, Shri. Gunnal Sir, Civil Judge Senior Divison, Shri. Indalkar Sir, JMFC, Shri. Whagmare Sir, JMFC, Adv.  Vinayak Koli, CDC member, Adv. Manoj Bhujbal, CDC member, and Adv. Sandip. The Chief Guest and resource person was Adv. Dilip Shinde, a distinguished legal expert and practitioner with significant contributions to the field of criminal justice in India.

The 6-day lecture series on the criminal justice system in India commenced with an impressive inaugural ceremony with an insightful address by Mr. Y.T Deshmukh Sir. The first session began with a warm welcome and introduction of the Resource person Adv. Dilip Shinde Sir. He shared valuable insights into the current state of the criminal justice system in India, addressing key challenges, reforms, and the role of legal professionals in ensuring justice.

The lecture series covered diverse topics, including criminal laws, procedural aspects, recent landmark judgments, and the socio-economic implications of the legal framework. Each session was interactive, allowing students to engage in meaningful discussions and gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.

In conclusion, the inaugural ceremony and the first session of the 6-day lecture series successfully fulfilled their objectives of providing students with a deeper understanding of the intricacies of the criminal justice system in India.
