Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s death anniversary

In Buddhism, ‘parinirvana’ means nirvana-after-death, which is believed to occur upon the death of someone who has attained nirvana during their lifetime. It implies a release from the material world, karma and rebirth as well as the dissolution of the skandhas. Hence, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s death anniversary is observed as Mahaparinirvan Divas, every year on 6th December, to pay him a lot of tribute and honor, and remember him for his phenomenal contribution in shaping India.
Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar is regarded as “The Father of the Indian Constitution”, as he was the chief architect of the Constitution of India. He was also an eminent Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who inspired the Dalit Buddhist movement as well as the rights of women and labour. The constitution of India written by Dr. Ambedkar is still guiding the country and helps it in emerging out safety even after he has passed through several crises. His great efforts help a lot to keep the country united.
This year, the 66th Dr. Ambedkar Mahaparinirvan Divas was observed and commemorated by JBSPS’s Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law on 6th December 2022. The memorial session was convened 11.30 AM, by the In-Charge Principal, Mrs. Dhanashree Kadam, along with the respective law faculty members and law students from BLS LL.B. , LL.B. and LL.M. streams, in houseful congregation of attendance.
Mrs. Dhanashri Kadam paid respect and homage to the portrait of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, by offering a somber tribute of flowers, garlands, and candles, at his elegantly decorated picture frame. After the remaining faculty members also paying their respect by bowing their heads down with joined palms of hands as Namaskar in respect, the entire attendence rose up and observed two minutes of silence to contemplate and respect his exemplary life and his stellar contribution to the country.
