National Librarian’s Day – 2019

National Librarian’s Day is celebrated in India on August 12 in remembrance of Padmashree Dr. Siyali Ramamrita Ranganathan, i.e. on his birth anniversary, who is the architect of library development in India and also called as father of library science. Due to holiday on that day followed by activities on account of silver jubilee celebration of Sanstha, Library day was observed in the Library of Law College on 19/8/2019. Dr. Mrs. Shitala S. Gavand, Principal felicitated Ms. Pranali Korlekar, Library Attendant and Shri. Mr. Sanjay Darwada and Shri. Sachin Pawar Library Staff with flower and all the yeaching and non-teaching staff paid tributes to Padmashree Dr. Siyali Ramamrita Ranganathan.  

In students life, good library is very important but in legal profession, professional competence cannot be achieved unless an advocate is equipped with systematic library and library science plays vital role in organizing Library set up. This year 12th August being Sunday, the day was celebrated on the day following. Ms. Pranali Korlekar, Librarian of the College garlanded the photo frame of Dr. Ramamrita Ranganathan and teaching and non-teaching staff and the students paid tributes to Dr. Ranganathan. This being Librarian’s day, Dr. Mrs. Shitala Gavand, the Librarian Ms. Pranali Korlekar and Library Attendant Mr. Sanjay Darwada. Lastly Librarian Ms. Pranali Korlekar also addressed the students and narrated the importance of the day and extended her gratitude to one and all present for the event.
