Late Shri. Janardan Bhagat Lecture Series – At BCT College of Law, Panvel – Fourth Lecture by Shri. Sachindra Shetye, Advocate, High Court, Bombay 28/10/2018

Under the guidance of Shri. Ramsheth Thakur, Chairman, Janardan Bhagat Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha and Shri. Y. T. Deshmukh, Vice Chairman, Janardan Bhagat Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha, Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law, New Panvel, organized Late Shri. Janardan Bhagat Memorial Lecture Series with the initiative taken by Dr. Mrs. Shitala S. Gavand, Principal of the college.
The fourth lecture in the series was delivered by Shri. Sachindra Shetye, Advocate, High Court, Bombay on 29/10/2018. He was welcomed and felicitated by Dr. Mrs. Shitala S. Gavand.
Shri. Sachindra Shetye, Advocate, High Court, Bombay delivered a lecture on the topic “Law of Writs”. He explained the jurisdiction and power of the Supreme Court and High Courts to issue various types of writs. With examples of famous cases viz. Dahi Handi, Haji Ali Dargha, Shabarimala Temple, Roha Kharedi Vikri Sangha, etc., he explained five different types of writs. He also explained the concept of Public Interest Litigation with suitable examples.
Thereafter during question and answer session, Shri. Sachindra Shetye gave answers to the questions asked by the students
Ms. Pranali Railkar, 3rd Yr. LL.B. and Ms. Mrunmayee Khambete, 3rd Yr. LL.B. jointly hosted the programme. It being the last lecture of this lecture series, at the end Dr. Mrs. Shitala S. Gavand, Principal BCT College of Law proposed vote of thanks. In her elaborate vote of thanks, she thanked Shri. Ramsheth Thakur Sir, Chairman, JBSP Sanstha, Shri. Arunsheth Bhagat, President, JBSP Sanstha, Shri. Y. T. Deshmukh Sir, Vice Chairman, JBSP Sanstha, Dr. Shri. S. T. Gadade, Secretary, JBSP Sanstha and all the members of the management for their constant support and she also thanked the staff and students of the college with special reference to all the student volunteers for successful execution of this lecture series.
