Moot Court and Advocacy

BCT College of Law, New Panvel on 2nd August 2018 had organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Moot Court & Advocacy” in the Seminar Hall of the College. Adv. Shreekant Vitthal Gavand, Addl. Public Prosecutor, High Court, Bombay delivered the lecture on the topic. He was welcomed and felicitated by Ms. Mrunmayi Khambete, one of the students of the College. The response of the students for this lecture was awesome.

While addressing the full packed seminar hall, he explained the concept of the moot court and guided the students regarding preparation for moot court competitions. He also narrated the importance of doing research of case laws related to the topic. He pointed out the importance of drafting and as to how good drafting helps for effective oral submission. While guiding the students for improving advocacy skill, he called upon the students to participate in extra-curricular activities for overcoming the stage-fear as early as possible. He further pointed out that for being a good advocate, it is absolutely necessary to study subjects in law curriculum with full sincerity and devotion and not to believe the statement there is no relevance between studying law and practicing law. He asked the students to observe court proceedings as and when possible for getting acquainted with the court practice as observations made by us in Court is the best guiding factor.

During question-answer session at the end, the students expressed their gratitude towards Dr. Mrs. Shitala Gavand, I/c. Principal for taking initiative for organizing such activities in College. Our student Ms. Pranali Auti, (III Yrs Court, 3rd Year) hosted the programme and proposed vote of thanks at the end.
