Independence Day – 2018

With great enthusiasm, Bhagubai Changu Thakur College of Law celebrated Independence Day on 15/8/2018. This Independence Day was special for entire staff and students, as this year; for the first time, the Independence Day was celebrated in the campus of the Law College Building. Mrs. Archana Paresh Thakur graced the occasion by being the chief guest of the event. The NCC cadets give the guard of honors to the Chief Guest Mrs. Archana Paresh Thakur and after their pared; the Chief Guest unfurled the Indian National Flag and every one present for the event, Salute the National Flag and paid respect to the Nation with National Anthem.
The Chief Guest Mrs. Archana Paresh Thakur was felicitated & introduced by Dr. Shitala Gavand and she expressed that it was really a proud moment that a successful businesswoman who has given remarkable contribution for social welfare is present for this event as Chief Guest. While addressing the students Dr. Mrs. Shitala Gavand pointed out that all prominent freedom fighters viz. Pt Madan Mohan Malviya, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Dr. Rajendra Prasad (First President of India), Lala Lajpat Rai, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar (Architect of Indian Constitution) were lawyers and therefore now being in legal profession, we have the responsibility of preserving and protecting our Independence.
While addressing the students the Chief Guest Mrs. Archana Paresh Thakur said that last nine years, the Independence Day was being celebrated jointly with CKT College and this year for the first time it is independently celebrated by Law College and it is a good step taken by the Principal. She pointed out that today’s independence is the result of the sacrifice made by our freedom fighters and we must remember the efforts taken by our ancestors. It is our duty to understand the importance of our independence and being the successor of our forefathers who achieved the freedom for us, it is our duty to protect the legacy of freedom and maintain peace.
The students of the college with great enthusiasm gave some patriotic performances. Student Ms. Ketaki Khade and Mr. Ajinkya Sarawade hosted the programme and Pradnya Yendarkar, Ms. Saraswati Shegar, Shrutika Shelke & Vinay Soni sung the songs, Swarada Jadhav, Nishita Totla, Shruti Alimkar performed dance and Om Totawade, Shayada Khan, Kewal Khandagale gave speeches.
As the Independence Day was being celebrated for the first time in Law College, a lot of members of the alumni association attended this celebration and Adv. Shri. Vinayak Koli talked on behalf of the association and as the student of the very first batch, he shared his memories and it is a very nice step that the Independence Day is now being independently celebrated by Law College. He said that for enjoying the freedom in real terms, we must eradicate all forms of corruptions. He advised students to actively participate in all activities organized in college.
In the end, Dr. Mrs. Shitala Gavand proposed the vote of Thanks and expressed her gratitude towards management, Chief Guest, participants, volunteers, students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the college, members of the alumni association for making the first event of Independence Day in Law College a grand success. She further expressed her gratitude towards Naik Sir and Chaugule Sir, Faculties in CKT College, for extending all possible cooperation for smooth execution of Independence Day programme. She expressed her special gratitude to Dr. Shri. Bhandare Sir and all the NCC cadets for wonderful pared. The programme concluded with the national song Vande Mataram and Snacks and Tea was provided to all.
